My sister got in a wreck - need some
NEED SOME ADVICE
Some kid rear ended her WHILE she was driving. What kinda of a moron does that? I thought she was stopped at a light and he just didn't see the light or something. NO idea wtf he was doing.
Anyway, just filed the claim with the insurance. Gonna try to total that car. I don't want a new rear ended from a different civic welded on, I don't like that crap.
Haven't been in an accident before and don't know how to go about this.
I would like to get this totalled because my family hate driving "fixed" cars that were BADLY damaged.
The kid that hit her has ALLSTATE as well as we do.
She has the stock tailights and headlights. Should those be put on or something to increase the value of the car or are those minor adjustments?
Pics from the wreck
Not too bad huh?

Left side of the bumper

Right side of the bumper

raar!

No wonder it sounded like crap when she pulled in!!

Now for the nice surprise that we found. Notice how the trunk IS NOT FLAT anymore

Yep, the entire body shifted forward

What kind of advice are you looking for? Could you ask a specific question?

My advice is to get two or three estimates from body shops. The insurance would rather not total it, and they ALWAYS under estimate the amount of the damage. Then they offer you a check, some people see cash and dollar signs then sign the paperwork and take the check, not knowing it'll actually cost much more to get it fixed. Good luck.
its very much fixable i think, but just see what the insurance has to say. Also like NA-all-the-way was saying you should get some bodywork quotes in the mean time if possible to see what you will be looking at.
Sorry about the vague post.
I am praying that they total the car, I hate driving a car that has been fixed so extensively like that.
I will contact the insurance on Monday and see what happens. But I'm gonna do my best to try to get it totalled.

Oh man, that is going to be expensive. I estimate 3-4k, maybe even 5k. My 00 si got hit and not even as bad as ur civic. The damage was light; cracked driver side tail lamp, pushed in the small piece under the driver side tail lamp, cracked bumper, and slight bent trunk (trunk still close without problem). No damage under the bumper cover and my local body shop charged the person who hit me $2,200.
Well the good thing about Allstate is that both party involved in the accident and have Allstate, there wont be any penalty on their driver's record. Accident forgiveness, but either than that, freakin they rack up charges for every little thing that is changed on the policy.

We are doing a 00 Civic LX Sedan at our shop, putting a whole rear clip on it, and it's not totalled. I know we could have totalled it, but we don't make money totalling cars
My advice take it to a shop where you know the owner, or take it to a really busy shop that may not want to work on it, cause they got way too much going on.

The rear trunk pan is designed to crumple in a rear end collision. In this case, it looks like a new pan would need to be welded in.
I can't say for sure, but to me, you may not have a total loss. Now if both quarter panels were damaged, I'd think differently.

Yup, you'll need the floor pan, rear body panel, rear bumper and possibly some rear frame rail repair. Doubt it'll be totalled.
