How to change oil?
i have a 99 prelude, base model. I want to change the oil, the miles are up. The only thing i can find is the oil cap on top of the h22a4 lol. Seriously, i need help, is there anyway i can do this in my garage? i got the right filter and oil and everything for it. is it only possible to change it by using a hydrolic lift on it??? thanks, please help and exlpain how to if possible. thanks
I dont own a h22a4. But every car that i have owned is close to the same. If you have a jack in your garage, Jack up the front end of your car. There will be a plug in the bottom rear of your oil pan. Remove the plug with some kind of a catch on the ground to collect the waste oil. After you feel it has drained enough, move the waste oil catch mechanism
under the oil filter. Twist off the filter with a filter wrench and be careful . Oil will come out of the filter as well. Take some of your new oil, dip your finger in it and rub it on the o-ring on the new filter. This ensures a better seal... I guess... (ive just always done it). Twist on the new filter and replace the plug in the bottom of your oil pan. Set the car back down and pour in your new oil, and your done!
Be careful not to overfill.

i can't find it at all though, it looks like it doesn't exist. In the manual it says that i need to hydrolic lift it, so i'm assuming that it pretty much has to be taken to a shop??
A standard floor jack or ground ramps will work just fine. Takes 5 quarts to fill. The fill hole is on the top of the engine. It's about 3", round, and has little dimples in the side for grip. Should be very easy to find
Alright, get under the car and look at the back of the engine. You should see it back there. If you are not sure what it looks like, look at the one you bought.

Some cars that were manufactured in the US did not have external oil filters. In your car it's inside the oil pan. I recommned you take it to the shop and have them change it out. Expect the labor to be around $ 70.00 + part. I hate Honda for such a lame design on Prelude oil filters.

NOOO don't take it one of these little shitty lube shops. I know it doesn't attest for all of them but me personally? The local ones SUCK. They stripped out my friends $600 Greddy/Trust oil pan on his SR20'd 240, and didn't bother trying to fix/pay for it.
The oil filter is on the back of the block, easy to find. Good luck and keep asking questions if you get stuck again.
Someone should make a video demonstration and post up.

Well the guy knows hardly crap about cars man. His dad died and left him $90,000, he is 20 and has already spent ALL of it. He is broke and has nothing to show for it, except for 5 cars that are all messed up. He knows how to change oil, why he didn't I have no idea.
Anyhow. Free bump for the OP.
