Okay.... first of all it wasnt me driving. Rather my retarded friend. He basically pulled the infamous "3rd to 2nd" misshift in my s2000. and 3rd was at redline. 2002 s2000
I immediately had him pull over and now my car idles bad, and the engine seems to have gotten louder. The car drives fine after 3k rpms but it does hesitate below that. HEres where my confusion lies.....
Given past experiences, i know that my valves might be out of whack. Its at the honda dealership right now, the mechanic looking at the my car ran the codes and said that the only code it was throwing was a missfire code. The car had a recall for spark plugs that i never knew about. He looked at my plugs and said that they look pretty bad. They are putting them in and i should know more in depth tommorow.
Question1: If the misshift was really severe, then at least one of my spark plugs should be broken correct?
Question2: Ive heard many stories about misshifting s2000's and usually nothing bad happens, is this true?
Question3: What else should i look for.? i already asked him to do a leakdown and compression test.
Question4: if my valves are bent and such, how much am i looking to pay?
THanks a lot

yes the spark plugs could be a factor but the fact that the motor was at 9K in 3rd and went to 2nd.. hopfully it was just a touch and your friend put the clutch in fast!!

i bit of $.... they will have to do a leak down/comp test.. if the valves are all good then it will be cheaper with just the retainers and a valve adjustment. but if the valves are bent thenthe head needs to be removed... so with that comes
headgasket
head resurface
replacement of valves
retainers if need be
valve job
removal/install of head
valve adjustment
etc

yeah he is offereing to put up cash. But cant do anything right now, so its coming out of my pocket for now.
I looked at the head and specifically the two intake valves on cylinder #1 are stuck.
The retainers and springs look fine.

yeah, i checked the retainers for any cracks in them.... but didnt see anything.
THe mechanic said that he can jsut replace those 2 valves and were good to go. MY question is.... shouldnt i replace all of the valves or will i be good with just those 2?

I would replace the retainers. I know you have looked at them, but microscopic or hairline factures may still exist. It seems extreme going into this much depth into looking, but id take a magnifying glass to it. Those tiny cracks over time will grow, its just a simple law of nature.
