i just bought a bone stock 1992 civic cx hatch back....and i was wondering if it is worth it to build up the stock motor, and how many valves does this motor have and what horse power am i looking at? at bone stock...
thanks
thanks
great car for a swap. no, really this motor i think only has 8 valves... and meager hp. very little potential unless you are going for high MPG. for power though, this is the best chassis for swap cuz it's light.

your car has a 1.5 liter 8 valve engine. roughly 80hp. my friend used to have a 92 civic cx. the motor was pure garbage. he found someone selling an integra ls motor and bought it for 700 dollers, including transmission, wiring harness and axles. id say your best bet is looking for a cheap b-series, or swaping a d16 vtec into it. you have a good car btw. the cx is the lightest hatchback in the 92-95 lineup.
the only thing that motor is good for is smog or those that live in CA. but has 8 valve 70hp at the crank completely useless to build unless you do a head swap or whole motor swap.
If you wanna be a Cheap-*** like me for a bit more kick check my Built D15B8 Thread, REALLY simple headswap, that also accomplishes a TON of maintance in the progress.
*edit*
Stock 8 valve head IS garbage for power, Next road-block for power is the Tranny is designed for Economy so you will need a good kick in the *** to go anywhere in a hurry.
