Default engine bay hot

ok guys. im just finally finishing up my lude swap. its a 92 with a jdm h22a. my vtec is not hooked up. thats my only check engine light as of now. i still have a surging idle that i cant figure out. anyways to me it seems like the engine bay gets real hot! its hot enough to notice that something is up but the gauge marks normal temps. the fan is wired directly because it wouldnt turn on running it normal. but is everyones engine bay that hot?

*Smacks self in forehead* you do understand that engines generate a whole lot of radiant heat right...

as for the surging idle SEARCH its been covered 99999^99 times

if your car is not burning, or your engine is not overheating..who cares.

-Bleed your coolant <open radiator cap and let it run for 30 min. or so>
-check your cam and ignition timing
-check your vac. hoses
-check intake manifold and tb gasket
