Default Engine is really hot, is this normal?

Well lately, I've been checking out my engine after i drive it a little and it gets really hot in there. everything is freaking hot, even all of the hose's. Yesterday, i cleaned my engine with some engine degreaser and after i cleaned it, i started up my engine while i was drying off some of the water and accidently hit my headers and that thing burnt my finger. i barely touched it and that suckers was hot. The engine was on for less then 5 minutes. I just wanted to know if this was normal. the temp gauge on my car shows that everything is normal, no overheating or anything.

yes engines get warm ESPECIALLY headers. Never touch a header that's been on for a few minutes.

Your car should be fine, unless your gauges arent working. I'd double check the oil/coolant and call it a day.

I was only asking, no need to take it to the ***. I just haven't noticed this before so i just wanted to make sure. Not like i intentionally freaking touched the headers. like i said, i was drying off some parts and accidently touched the header.

once bumped my header with bare skin for less than half a second... nothing happened immediately...but sat there and watched while blisters formed after 1-2 seconds.

you realize that your engine has hundreds of controlled explosions going on inside it every second right?

EGT's are typically around 400 deg Celcius at idle after the EGT's get up to temp. 400 deg C is roughly 750 deg F, and the manifold absorbs a lot of that heat.
