Default Running lean between shifts???

I have a 96 rs integra lsvtec with a chipped p06 ecu converted to p28. Fully built and running well other than the fact that when I am at idle the engine sometimes has a eratic idle. It will tend to fluctuate after the throttle has been engaged quickly. Checked for air in the coolant, checked my IAC valve and have messed with my timing to get the best a/f ratio's. Basically, when I shift to any gear and release the gas, the AEM UEGO gauge goes directly into the red and is at 20+ a/f ratio. It doesnt seem like its running to lean because there is no detonation. I checked the plugs and there isnt a sign of spackle or anything. The plugs are in the right zone, they are clean. My timing is kinda weird but I found that I get the best a/f ratio's thru the entire power band. I have the exhaust cam at +2* and the intake came at +4*. Plus the dizzy is full retard so that eliminates pretty much all of the advance timing on the intake side. Where should I start looking? Any comments will be nice. Thanks!!!

When you close the throttle while driving (not during idle of course), the fuel injectors basically shut off completely and you go 100% lean. What you describe is normal behavior.

It also happens while at idle. The RPM's drop extremely quick and then the rpm's fluctuate. I am running at 45psi at my fuel filter with 310cc injectors. New ecu???

is it tuned? you should have the distributor at the stock 16*btdc and tune the timing maps in the ecu.

It has a general basemap for an lsvtec with my current modifications. I will have to set the dizzy to 16*. As for the tuning, how can i get the timing maps off the ecu? I have the ecu chipped by KENJI off of here. Thanks.

A general basemap is just that. It still needs to be fine tuned to your exact motor.

Just because you have the same mods as x person doesn't mean you are at the same sea levels, humidity levels and your engines health may not be the same or have different demands.

Engines are like girls. Although they look the same and share characteristics, they all have different demands.

Hahaha, very true. Would you recommend having an Certified Mechanic doing the fine tuning? I have a helms and did the rebuild myself, so I am somewhat mechanically enclined. Thanks for all the help.

you need someone with a wideband and tuning software to tune at a minimum. a dyno would be nice too. find someone local that tunes crome or hondata.

I have a wideband installed. I will check to see if anyone tunes with crome or hondata. Thanks again.

1badteg i got had the same problem i have a fully built motor the full 9....... wen you hit the gas it kind of starts to choke right? you cant slam the gas or anything you gotta ease off it..... at first i thought it was a booost leak but then i had my car tuned and dynoed it was just the air/fuel ratio...... it was running to rich.... once you get it tuned you should b good to go

well when i hit the gas its fine. its when i let off the gas the rpm's drop at twice the normal speed and it starves itself of fuel. when i am driving and i let the transmission slow down the engine, the AEM UEGO gauge I have goes way lean. I will just have to find someone in BFE to help me tune it. It sucks living in ALASKA!!!

I think you should be putting money into the sentra Let the integra sit if it doesnt want to run right. You need to punish it, set it straight, just like a girl right?

With a LSVT build I would run hondata and get some dyno time and have it tuned by a certified expierenced tech. You will get some good numbers, it will probably be more efficent and save more gas, and best of all it will be faster.
