93 Timing Settings
I have a 93 integra ls, with minimal mods. i have a cold-air intake, cat-back exhaust, iridium spark plugs, and an air-fuel gauge that stairs me in the face everyday saying that my engine is running rich. Why is it running rich if i increased air-flow, and haven't touched the fuel system? I read on an Integra forum that this is a common problem and a simple solution is to advance the timing 3 degrees. Is this simple fix true? Will it make me stoich and happy? Hit me back...
well u shouldnt be worried that ur car is running rich. it's supposed to run rich from the factory. the A/F ratio gauge should sweep back and forth from rich to stoich to lean and vice versa at idle, then when u hit the throttle, it should shoot straight up to rich. the added airflow from an intake wont change the A/F dat much. u can go ahead and advacne ur timing to about 18 degrees advance (+2 degrees), but ur still gonna be running rich. it's normal!
