Default Why do people like Turbos more than Superchargers so much?

I know the difference between the two and how they work but to me it sounds like supercharging is better. There is something Turbo lag that I really don't like the idea of. I want my car to do what I want it to do when I tell it to. Is there some hidden secret that I don't know about that makes Turbos so much better. Do they pump out alot more HP or something? I know they make a little more but you only get the full effect of Turbo in the higher RPMS. What you guys have to say about it?

Turbocharging is more power efficient, and given the right circumstances can yield more potent results than the supercharging equivalent. First of all, you don't need to take away some of the engine's existing power to make more. Secondly, you (typically) have more adjust ability with a turbo, given the pressure adjustments.

Also, you can get better longevity out of an engine with a turbo, due to the fact that you can run an intercooler and a remote turbo housing, to keep engine temperatures at a minimum.

PS. There are many turbo setups out there. Most of which will operate throughout the extent of your car's existing power band. The only way you'll feel "turbo lag" is if you have an incorrect combination of turbo and engine displacement. As a sidenote, I have a buddy that has an Eagle Talon and he sports a turbo that runs full boost at 1800 rpms. That's just above idle. Most superchargers don't really produce positive hp/tq until about 2000 rpms anyways. (You have to remember that the supercharger does take hp/tq to run)

It depends on engine size and the size of the turbo. As well as other misc. factors.

n/a turbo and supercharging all depends on what your building your car for and where you want your powerband to be...

most 7thgen guys go turbo because going n/a on our d17s is a waste and there is no s/c kit for it...

go turbo or k swap thats it...

but i <3 Boost
