Default tranny grind at 8000+rpm

hey just got a 01 s2k and whenever i lay into it ill shift from 1st to 2nd way up in the rpm band...like 8500ish?? but it'll grind when it does grind nothing slips it still catches and churps tires but its pretty annoying first i thought it was just me missin a shift but it happens a lot but if i shift at like 8 grand nothin happens..wats the deal??

how many miles?
change your fluid and then that can be ruled out but that would be the #1 thing.. then perhaps clutch adjustment

or if you have an ap1, then 2nd gear high rpm grind is a TSB issue. it blows majorly;.

santos, what is this clutch adjustment you speak of? i thought this was only done on older cars. enlighten me.

like that of any car with a hydro clutch.. you can make adjustments to the inside... that is if its coming up high....
