Can't shift into 1-3-5 gears
Sup guys,
I've had my hybrid H22- EG for awhile now and its been out of commision for 3 years. I want to revive it, but the tranny is messed up. I can't shift in 1-3-5th gears. Anyone know what the problem can be. I know its inside the tranny becuase I can't manually push/pull on the tranny shifter from the eng. compartment. It'll go into 2-4-R without a problem. Thanks.

Re: Can't shift into 1-3-5 gears (JdM DA InTeGrA)
Yeah, its hydro and has fluid in it. When I last drove it, it was on the fwy, everything was fine and then it kicked out of 3rd and that was it. I limped home in 2nd ann 4th gear. Since then, the car's been sitting in the garage. Now that I'm getting around to fixing it. I gotta resolve this prob. Thanks.

Your shift linkage or fork should be loose. These are the easy fix-it. My shift linkage bolts fell out and it had trouble going in the 3rd 5th gears. Worst case could be inside your tranny......
edit...didnt see it was a h22.
I think your tranny is gone...SAME EXACT THING HAPPEN to my friend two months ago...i dont know whats it is called but if you look where the shift cable connects to on the tranny, that little external "box" is what is wrong. It doesnt click over for the tranny to go in the other gears...my friend used parts from a blown tranny to fix his...
You can actually move it with you hands and see that one of the levers does move the other lever to those needed gears..

Re: Can't shift into 1-3-5 gears (Supah_Eg6)
Its like shifting into a brick wall. It will not go in 1-3-5th. Since its shift linkage, I can tell that the cables will bend, but the gears won't go in.
Yeah, on top of the tranny, there are two levers, one is moved to select the gear and the other one actually puts it in gear. The second on is the one that is stuck and won't go into gear. thanks for the help.

there might be something in the way of it, after my swap i couldn't shift into 5th, because the shift linkage was hittiing the exhaust flange on the cat, try checking that, just a suggestion...

Re: (slomofo)
had a similar problem in my cousins h22 accord. car didnt want to go in 2nd or 4th gear. shifter also had a lot of play in it. swapped out the cables for a different set and it fixed the problem. i think the cables may have streched(sp?) . but i dont know

Re: (boostedej1)
I had the same problem...it might be the syncros....because with my car it just would either get stuck in reverse or it wouldnt go in reverse at all. It happend to me twice. One time when I drove the car 1 hour away then dyno it and than an other hour getting back. I raced it when I came back too and smashed 3rd gear. My conclusion is that #1 my tranny was too hot and over used that day and #2 somehow 3rd 5th and reverse are connected ..i think...??
Well aways the second time it happend to me was when I was at the track I grinded and smashed 3rd gear agean...(and also missed)..... the same thing happend with reverse. Also, I ran my car like 5 times before I screwed up the tranny that day.
My suggestion to you is to try to play with the car and put it in gear. Also, try to rock the car back and forth to see if you could get some play into the gear. thats what i did. But one of my friends said that it might be something to do with the the ??rings (cant remember the name) they get jambed up sometimes... good luck
