First off, that's the wrong ECU to run the B16. You are probably getting a CEL for the IAB. Second, the stock GSR VTEC crossover is very quiet and less of a pop than if you were to run a B16 ECU.

true, he could also have mutiple codes if his cel has been on forever.

Check the codes that your ECU is throwing first before buying a new one.

There's a stick at the top of the thread for checking ecu codes.

He'll need to buy a new ECU anyways, he's running the wrong one

the fact that he's running a gsr ecu wouldn't prevent vtec from working, and gsr's don't have a quieter vtec than b16's >_>

check you're wiring. what car is this b16 in?

the codes from the gsr ecu should be just the IAB/evap, vtec should still work @ 4400.

a 94 4 door...what chassis package??? is it an lx, dx?
if you don't know then do you have power windows, and locks, etc. ???

usually if you have the DX chassis there will be no wiring in the engine harness for vtec...
