Default no vtec on motor swap, already searched "vtec" "no vtech"

Acouple days ago I swapped in a d15b into my 90 crx si. I bought the conversion harness, 4 wire o2 sensor, etc for the swap.

Everything is bolted up, runs fine but no vtec... No check engine light, oil is full. I used my trans by the way, and kept the cable speedo. It has low end power but no top end. I'm running the p28.

Just wondering why i'm not hitting vtec. Is it fine to run the cable speedo? Everything is hooked up right. If anyone can please help that would be good. Running out of idea's. Thanks. Also i searched... "d15b" "vtec" "no vtec" none of those helped me at all.

Any codes in the ECU?

No codes what so ever. I ungrounded the vtec solenoid, just to see if I could pop a code and it did. Regrounded it and no more codes. So I know wiring is fine. None from the ecu also.

Just out of curiosity, how do you know vtec isn't engaging?

I would hook up a VTEC indicator light to check and make sure because SOHC VTEC isn't the loudest or most distinct thing to hear/see

If everything is hooked up, you are throwing no codes, and the car is warm.........

I would say that vtec is likely engaging. It is designed to be a smooth quiet transition. You aren't supposed to hear it. especially if you are all stock.

I have never felt vtec "kick in" in a basicly stock D series Vtec motor.

It just isn't all that.

Its probably working fine.

Probably... But theres no power really. The compression on the motor is 175 all around.

But i'll keep doing stupid little tests. Theres no way that my old a6 beats this on low and top end. But any other info would help.

I guess I hooked a light to the solenoid, and it works. I guess the d15b is just that weak... Thanks all.
