from 94 ex to 97 dx tranny. Has anyone done anything similar to this? No luck searching so far....its for a greddy turbo 94 civic ex. thanks.

 

you could...I really don't see why you'd want to, turbo or no turbo.

 

Definelty possible. I don't know the gear ratios off the top of my hand but I'm assuming the reason you want to do this is because the ex tranny has closer gears then the dx so you'd want the dx for a turbo, similiar to a turbo b-series using the ls tranny because the gearing is spaced further apart. If you are lucking to attempt this it's a straight forward swap.

thats from hondaswap....don't know if its accurate. I'm just asking because I have a 97ish dx tranny and axles sitting around.

 

You will love the third gear with boost on the dx tranny

 

what does each gear top out at? @ the 6800 redline?

 

bolts straight up. i'm running a Si motor and CX tranny.

 

If you're swapping it to an EX engine the gears will top out once you hit the rev limiter with the EX engine, 7200RPM. Changing gearing doesn't affect the redline, just how fast you get there.

 

DX's get 3.722 FD

3.25 FD was not available after 1995

 

I know they'll top out at whatever redline the motor has...I was just asking him what it topped out on the dx motor (6800?) so I could sort of compare with the 94 ex (7200).

 

The dx tranny differential is not as strong as the ex. I would keep the ex tranny, just my opinion.

 

how is it not as strong when they use the same parts?????

I have no experience with this but a few of my friends have busted cx and dx differentials but never an ex. I have a quaife in mines so it's not a problem. That's just my experience with this.

 

Mista Bone- have you or do you know anyone who has done these swaps? If so, do you know if it helped with 1/4 times?

 

helped put a 93 EX tranny in a 96 DX HB, he dropped over 1/2 second at the track.

Trust me you want the EX/Si gearing. NOS boosts torque way more than turbo. I ran 13.09 with stock gearing and top speed (if you desire) was over 140 mph.

Just a D motor.
