What's the difference between the 6th gen Civic EX tranny and the DX tranny? The problem is I just got a new tranny for my car. I drive a 96 civic EX. Before, when i'm driving on the FWY, I drive in 5th gear. Now, I drive in 4th. Is that normal? Also, In regular street, I usually drive in 4th gear. Now I drive in 3rd gear. Please tell me what tranny I'm running now. Did they put a DX tranny in my car? How can I tell? PLEASE HELP ASAP!!

Yep you got a DX tranny with 3.722 Final Drive instead of EX 4.250 FD.

Some local shop worked on it. What's a good thing about running a DX tranny? Although I'm gonna go back there and tell them to switch, I wanna know...

it will make your car slower, yes. go back to whoever put that on and get mad, very mad.

For your engine (or D16Y7's for that matter) there is nothing good about the DX tranny. IMO, it was a vain effort on Honduh's part to achieve a little bit more fuel economy. Not only will your car be significantly slower in the 1/4 or autocrossing, but I believe that the giant gaps between each gear actually reduce your average mpg. Basically, you were ripped off.

I'm guessing it should since a DX tranny was put into my EX.
