Default bypassing a dimmer switch?

my dimmer switch is bad, i'm quite tired of replacing it. this is my 2nd switch i pick up from the junk yard and it's still bad. now i have trouble shooted the wires to make sure it was them causing the problem and they are fine, and the fuses are good as well.

now, i'm really not motivated to pick up a new one at the dealer since they run for $123.94 (atleast at my local dealer). i know the EG6 does not use a dimmer switch, how is this done? is there a way i can jump the harness? bypassing the dimmer switch?

the eg6 (which would be the jdm civic) doesnt use a dimmer, but when i put all of my jdm parts in (climate control, clock and SiR cluster) i just hid my dimmer switch because if i unplugged it, nothing would work.

i wouldnt pay 123 bucks for one, id just jack a bunch for a local pick a part (not sure where you're at but thats what they're called here). im sure its possible to jump the wires though. wish i knew how.

Shoot me a pics of the wiring. There should be three. I know for a fact that there is one black/red, and one black. I forgot what the other color is. If I remember right the red/black needs 12 volts when the parking lights and the headlights to come on to light the dash.

red/black should be power from your parking lights, or it is the input to send power to your dash lights, and vice versa with the red.( i cant remember) you should just be able to connect them together and it should work. I would check with a meter to verify first though.

if thats the case then its a neg. dimmer and you may need to jump the black wire to the red. the meter will tell you for certain though.

well, you see i was on my lunch break and didn't have my meter with me, so i went ahead and jumped those wires too and nothing happened. turned around and jumped the black with the red with the black strip and it blew my fuse.

i guess i should stop being lazy and use the meter, LOL. i'll do it later and reply back.

thanks

thanks </TD></TR></TABLE> yeah that would blow it, the red/black is parking lights + and black is ground. try hooking red and black together. should solve your problem.
