Default Bypass Dimmer Switch for Instrument Cluster?

so recently i was wondering if there was a way to bypass the dimmer switch for the instrument cluster to light up when i turn on the headlights, and wanted to know if i can wire up the wires going to the switch into the switch itself on the steering wheel and have them on bright. can this be done?

also on a side note, my dimmer switch burned out and noticed that it was smoking a bit when i plugged it in, since i extended the wires to it because it couldn't reach, did that have anything to do with it? i ask because i know it also controls my rear taillights lighting up when i have the headlight switch to the on position so would that be the case? if not then it seems like i need to get another one at the salvage yard

1. Leave it on the brightest setting.

2. Replace the dimmer switch with another "working" one. Why did you have to extend the wires in the first place?

ok then ill do that then
sencond, i did it because when i did the wire tuck i didn't take into account the length of the wires for it and came up short for it to connect to the switch itself so i cut some wire and ran it longer

Even if you did an engine bay wire tuck, you didn't have to mess with the dimmer switch or any other switches/components on the dash.

I'm worried now that you have more problems than just your dimmer. Your dimmer does NOT control your taillights lighting up.
