Annoying Rattle!
Hi GUys...
I'm still trying to fix this annoying rattle of mine thats occuring around the alternator/ps pump area.... From reading the posts... It might be the heatshield so I've removed it and it still happens.. also tapped the heatshield from the cat as well... also not that... SO I got the mechanic stethescope and heard the rattling from the alternator.. so I replaced that..
But the same rattling is still that... thought it was the valve getting out of whack.. but I've adjusted it and its still there! at this point I want to do whatever it takes to get rid of it...
Then I used the stethescope and also heard that similar rattle from the ps pump so I removed the belt and ... as you can guess.. its still there... SO really now at the moment I'm out of ideas and possibilities...
I also just had the timing belt replaced.. and at the same time had the following replaced while the engine was opened..
Cam shaft and crank shaft seals, rocker cover gasket, timing belt tensioner, water pump, pcv, fuel filter, all drive belts, distributor cap and rotor button...
so could it mean whilst they were replacing them they could have stuffed something up?
Sorry for the long post but I need to be detailed so someone can give me some specific advice...
Thanks in advance

This is probably not the same case as yours, but I had a rattling in my car for long *** time, and it echoed while driving so I could never to put my finger on where it was coming from. I lucky opened one of my turn signals and it was this metal piece that holds the turn signal and it wasnt in place. I had opened the turn signal a while back and didnt put it back right. Try to remember if you have worked on any part of the car since the noise started.
Thanks for the feedback guys... yeah I also thought it was from the a/c compressor... but after i got the stethescope... the noise wasn't really that loud from there....
also it sounds like a tinny rattle... like a tin can type of rattle.. but the rattle isnt in any type of rythem. so are you saying that it could be the exhaust?
I noticed that the rattle is at the most obvious when its in like the 1100 rev range... also when I turn on the air conditioning...
oh sorry.. when I got the timing belts replaced etc... i didnt do it... it was done by Honda... so I trust that they did it correctly.. hopefully

Hey guys... I found the same sound that someone else has...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...earch=
its that sound but a more higher tinny sound
Its not the alternator... ps pump... ac compressor as well.. and now it seems like its coming from the flywheel area... any ideas?

i can't tell anything from that video.. however.. i'll share the most common rattles from hondas
a/c compressor turns on.. you should hear more rattle.. sometimes its less of rattle when you press in the clutch
exhaust rattle is rather obvious and its likely to be heard at certain rpm. if your exhaust is stock, done right, and no defects.. make sure all of connections are tight, all hangers there and you should not have any rattles.
interior rattle is also easy to detect.
injectors will make slight ticking sound and so will valves.
spark plug cover will also add to ratle - remove that and see if thats what you hear
post a better sound clip - hard to tell apart from poor quality of youtube.

I did not hear much of a rattle on the youtube vid, but I did hear a slight pop in the exhaust. My car has that kind of pop at idle, but I am not sure if that is what you are referring to.
There is another rattle that I have that I am still trying to pinpoint. John informed me that it is most likely a socket that got trapped in a whole under the passenger seat tho
I only hear it shift when accelerating or decelerating.

please let me know what you think... its that noise which makes the car sound like a diesel engine... its a rattling grinding sound...
and also the car is stock... just had the timing belt.. tensioner.. retainer seals all replaced by Honda as well... The noise was captured in the right wheel arch... so near the tranny/clutch area

UPDATE:
My mystery noise turned out to be a tube of chap stick that had miraculously found its way into one of those tiny holes underneath the passenger seat.
