Default Broken VSS

My VSS stopped working one day. I pull it out, opened it up, and discovered that it has seized up. I bought a used VSS and swapped it in. It didn't work. I bought two other sensors and it didn't work. I'm guessing that there is something broken in the tranny? I don't know what gear in the tranny tha tthe gear on the VSS connects to. Help.

the vss goes off the diff. if your speedo stopped working there is another speedo control box thats in the dash that could be out.

its probably something with your ecu or cluster, you could connect your vss wire to a multimeter and make sure it is sending output, pulsed 5v

I forgot to mention that it caused a CEL. So I don't think it could be anything with the cluster.

All the way down so that the mounting tab on the VSS was flush against the tranny. Harness plugged in tight.
