i did a ls vtec with a b16 head, check the sileniod and oil level/ pressure has all the little ls vtec stuff, such as the oil line, plugs dowel pin etc. not sure what the problems is check almost everything i can think of. im thinking it has to be with oil pressure.... any suggestion on the problem would be nice.

really because i think i have a older block a b18a and im pretty sure i did everything right.. i talked to a friend and he said im not getting enough oil pressure. so do u think its the oil pump...?
all oil pumps from 95-96 to 2001 are the same on all b series block even the gsr and type r.
when you tapped the hole in the vtec head, did you remove your vtec assembly to make sure that the little filter in there is clean. usually when you tap the oil line you MUST remove the vtec assembly and blow out any metal material remaining from your tap. this might cause your problem for lack of oil pressure.
if that is ok you can connect a noid light (a small light used to verify that injectors work fine) or any other type of small light that you can connect by backprobing it to the vtec solenoid light and the other end to the ground. when that is done you just have to raise the front of the vehicle and drive it to the conditions so that your vtec enables. if the little light comes on it means that your wiring is ok.
if the ligt didnt come on, recheck your wiring diagrams, check your vss...
if that is ok, you can install an oil pressure gauge and check out what it gives...
all i say is that i would greatly recommend that you solve your problem before driving your car around too much because a lack of oil pressure...means premature engine damage!
all these tests are fairly easy to do and dont recommend alot of time and tools
hope this helps

no they arn't. pre 96 (90-95) have different pumps. Flow less and run less pressure..
I'd try and shim the pump (i just stick a 10mm nut in there, its a little overkill but i havn't had a problem with any of them and i've done 7or 8 pumps like that)

not the same the gear is smaller on any ls pump a newer ls pump will work b18b not as strong as a vtec pump. thats your choice. ls/vtec you have to run a vtec pump wether gsr, type r, or even b16. all you ls/vtec guys should know that the oil pump is a critical part of the swap!!!! shim it or get rid of it all together and buy a gear set or another pump.... only 150 new...
Get the 94 -01 haynes manual on the gsr it s very helpfull on diagnosing vtec probolems eletrical and mechanical. It covers b18c1 and 5 b16a b18b1 and b20b/z .It'll be the best 17 bucks you've ever spent you can get em at autozone.
