Default how to clean a used turbo?

I've got some time while i sort out other things for my setup and i wondered, how could i clean my turbo? It's a t3/t4 in good condition, but the previous owner had it run too rich. So i'm wondering how to clean it from the outside, it's a bit greasy and if i can do anything about the inside. I'm not sure if it's a good idea to pour water in it and i'm also concerned that i don't drop something in there that would damage the turbo later on.

So that's why i'd like your advise on what to do?

I'd rebuild it while you have it out, and not waiting on it to go back in immediately. Kit's are like $75 to rebuild it, and won't take you more than a couple of hours. IMO

Keep in mind I is in Europe!

Who sells those kits and how hard is it to do on your own? The turbo doesn't need balancing afterwards?
