any one? what should i do to get the turbo in proper working order. i really don't want to by a rebuild kit because the turbo seems to be pretty good with no shaft play and it spins pretty well. i thinkit could spin a lil better.

the z car had a couple diffrent turbos... but it should be a T3 super 60... so it would make a very good turbo for your engine.

as far as cleaning... take it apart, and soke it in carb cleaner. (the housings) If you take the housings off.... and they look like they have oil cooked into them... you will have to rebuld it. if they look clean (besides for a little carbon in the exauhst side) you should be safe.

good luck

Its a 60-trim, but not "super 60". Yes its a good B17 turbo. and no do not clean the turbo with parts cleaner. If you take the housings off the center section then parts cleaner is fine.

I don't expect to EVER see a junkyard turbo with out a small amount of oil in the compressor housing, you gotta figure 95% of those 300zx turbo have AT LEAST 100K miles on them.

Then again my 98K mile stealth ( TD04-9bs) turbos didn't had any oil in them, but they weren't at a junkyard either...

Id use the turbo, then if it blows oil rebuild it.

I'm thinking now that I remember the 300zx turbo being a little smaller than a 60-trim or that one of them is a 50-trim or something... Maybe I'm wrong.... That's it I'm posting on HMT.com to get some answers..

i got the o2 housing with it. the only thing i don't have is the oil lines. i don't see how my flapper is going to work though. i is kind of bent. should i just go with an external wasgate? if so how i do it?

weld the flapper door shut and remove the actuator...then just mount the external off the mani like normal!

and Optiks that turbo is in GREAT shape(outside)...WOW, doesn't show age at all! good ole Nissan

you dont have to weld it shut if you just run a normal downpipe and dump the o2 housing, you just block off the hole with a peice on the DP flange

the reason you dont hear people running these is b/c that damn O2 housing. its a bitch and a half from what ive heard.

I was looking into the same turbo info earlier this month. I read that the VG30eT engine (1980's 300Z car) came with a TBO3-21 turbo.
For what thats worth.

the o2 housing isint bad because its cast steel so its weldable

heres what i did, i sliced off the o2 elbow at the red line with a chop saw and made the down pipe from there and chucked the elbow to the trash
