Default h22 over heating

I just dropped in my new h22 and i fixed all my other problems but now my car just over heats and my fan kicks on late is it my thermostat or my head gasket thats causing this problem cuz when i had my old motor i didnt have this problem so i know my radiator isnt bad. and my cars is telling me its running hot even though I just turned it on for like 3 minutes.

there is a chance that the water pump is bad. first check your coolant to make sure you have enough in it (when car is cold) then start the car up and squeeze the radiator hose to feel if you are gitting any pressure. if not first check the thermostat . it could be stuck closed. it is allot easier to get to than the water pump

make sure you open the bleeder and get all the air out of the system.

Make sure your thermostat is opening. and that your gauge actually works.

And yes it could possible be your waterpump or headgasket.

Same here. After the H22 swap, I'd sit in traffic for a while & see my temp gauge start to climb. I've already put in a new Koyo Rad w/new fan inlc, Mugen Thermostat & fan switch, flushed it (twice)....so I'm thinking it came w/a bad water pump----->Spring project....I'll keep ya'll updated.

Just goes to show, if you're swapping in a motor you should first replace
things like the water pump, timing belt, clutch etc.

Much easier out of the car

I was gonna ask you if you had one of those

Check it on both sides of the thermostat and see if there is a significant
change in temperature.

Also see the temperature difference in both radiator hoses.

Do a compression check on it if you worried about the head gasket.

check the thermostat.... when the car is warmed up all the way. grab the bottom hose with 1 hand. and grab the top hose with the other. if one is cool and 1 is warm. its your thermostat..

I wired my fan to a switch inside the car. I had the same issue with the overheating. I thought it was the head gasket, so I changed it and had the head resurfaced. I never thought that it could be the thermostat or the water pump since I had just put them in new before I tuned it. (It may be, not sure). Then I thought that the radiator was too low, so i raised it up as well. I am currently putting it back together and I though they are new, I may swap out the water pump and thermostat. I have also thought that I have a crankcase ventilation problem too and it was a contributing factor to my issues. Not sure, just speculation. What do you guys suggest for me before I crank this puppy up again?
