Default Throttle body question......WTF car dies instantly.

Hello.

I took my TB off so i can send it away to Maxbore to get refurbished an bored to 62mm.

The only replacement i could find was a BDL 70mm TB, so i had no choice but to use it.

I took the old one off and installed the BDL, and hooked up the TPS senser and the throttle cable and i had to plug a couple vacuum lines, but nothing too major.

Now, when I start the car it starts every time, but instantly dies unless I have my foot on the pedal a little bit.

How do i adjust something so my car will idle correctly instead of dying after revving to 500 rpm?

please help, i gotta get this done asap.

Does the BDL TB have a port for the IACV passage? Have you opened the base idle screw?

i've tried moving the TPS senser around, but it won't hold idle at any angles......there isn't a port for the IACV passage, and i don't quite know what the base idle screw is...

Post a picture of the TB. The IACV is on the intake manifold, but the TB has a port before the butterfly that supplies air to it. There should also be an idle adjustment screw on the TB. If not, there should be a throttle rotor adjustment. Adjust it so that the butterfly is slightly open to allow air into the engine.

That doesn't look like it has the required passages.

i know where the IACV is, it's unplugged from the electrical connecter b/c the motor inside broke.

what i did is tighten the throttle cable so air is always let in, so now it idle's at 2K, and there's an ice storm so i had to drive home.

shoots out a lot of white smoke though.....smells bad too

it's probably not the right TB for your application. sounds like you've somehow got coolant running into your IM now. check your gaskets, make sure everything lines up, and make sure everything is connected properly.
