Default Valve adjustment and oil change?

Hi, I was wondering if I do the valve adjusments on my type R motor, will I have to get a new oil change afterwards? I just did the oil change last week. Should I get the valves adjusted in the first place? I have 18000 miles on the motor since I swapped it into my civic? The mechanic says you lose torque if the valves aren't adjusted properly. Is this true? Did anyone notice a difference after adjusting there valves??

Thanks for any imput!!!

no you do not have to change your oil after a valve adjustment. Yes if your valves are really out of spec you will lose some power.

when your valves need adjustment, are there any warning signs/symptoms/noises from the engine? or you just do it by mileage?

my engine is making this funny metallic noise and someone suggest me to get my valves adjusted. but the thing is, the noise from my engine is not consistent. it comes twice every minute..

thanks
