Re: (ilove(.)(.)'s)
i haven't fixed this on my car yet... my valves tick so loud its embarassing... you can hear the valves ticking from waaayyyy down the street... when i first start the car, the ticking is incredibly loud and when i apply the throttle, the ticking gets faster and loud... while driving the ticking is there too up until around 3k rpms when the ticking seems to go away... after the engine is warmed up completely... the ticking is a lot quieter but overall its still loud and noticeable...
i had a valve adjustment done and it did not help the sound... so i asked the mechanic to help figure it out... he drove it around and listened to it some more... then he used one of those microphone things that you listen to with the headphones... he placed it all around the head... on the exhaust side it was quiet... on the top of the head it was quiet... on the intake side it was reaaaaalllllll loud... so he told me his best guess is that the valvetrain itself needs re-seated and to take it to a head shop... i havent done this yet, however...
i would like to find a solution to this... my intake manifold is fine... i swapped my d16y8 out for another d16y8... it did not make any sound at all on my old motor, the entire engine bay was quiet as a mouse... after swapping, i get a reallll loud ticking sound and i get a whining sound from the altnerator belt being too tight (im lazy to loosen it)...
