heya guys

i just checked my oil level earlier and its right on the bottom hole of the dipstick

i topped up about a quart around 500miles ago to the full mark and now its gone down

the engine is fully built with brand new gaskets, seals etc.

ive done the compression test and its on 200-210psi

when i WOT the car i could see some greyish smoke screen from the rear view mirror, but i would assume thats because im running rich ( car is tuned with open e-cutout and i never open the e-cutout on the street )

i cant see any visible leaking from the bottom of the car, and the engine probably only done about 3000miles tops

Was it just built? How many miles?

From what i read on h-t you can expect some blowby from the rings not seating completely yet. However im not sure if you should be losing that much.

 

yeah built with je pistons, eagle rods etc

I'm guessing you're turbo right? If so, after you built you motor did you break it in with Dino oil? from what I've found synthetic lubricates too well to break the rings in properly, so you could be geting some blow-by. You could also have a turbo seal going out.

 

i do believe you are supposed to break your motor in with mineral oil, it seats the rings better than synthetic.

did you do that?

maybe you just got a bad seal on something even though you may have replaced it. dont over look anything

 

i break-in the motor with a special running-in oil from valvoline

and i was running the engine for about 1000miles roughly before switching to semi-synthetic valvoline VR1

i hate this car, it keeps giving me troubles

 

Do you know what the ring gap specs are?

 

i wouldnt have a clue to be honest

but the engine builder said its kinda on the lose end because i told him the power i want the engine to be making
