Default bought an a6 block... problems?

A little while ago I bought a d16a6 shortblock for $50. When I bought it I didn't really check it over as good as I should had. Anyways, I looked it over after I got it home and discovered that one of the head studs is broken off about even or maybe ~1/8-1/4" under the deck. Can I have a machine shop drill it out? worst comes to worst will they have to retap the hole a little bigger and get an oversized head stud? or is the block garbage?

You could probably drill it out yourself. Get an extractor set and drill a hole in the broken bolt. The extractors are reverse threaded and tapered and you should be able to just unscrew it especially if you are using an impact gun.

drill it out yourself, you can do it, its not worth taking a 50 block to a machine shop that is like 75 bucks an hour for labor for diy'ers
