Default stripped block AHH What now?

I was tightening my head bolts on my z6 and bolt 6 didnt tighten all the way it just kept spinning...but it went in fine - didnt seem crooked or anything...so i pulled it back out after it wouldnt tighten and there were metal shavings on the bolt itself...the bolt didnt strip but the block did...what do i do? i just bought the new head so i dont want to buy a new block...if i have to i have to but is there any way around it?

Think a timesert would work?

Timesert would definately work, but its so god damn expensive.....
If youre not making a ton of power on the z6, a helicoil will also probably work just fine
(apparently, lots of mustang guys purposefully rip out the threads and replace with helicoils....but i dont know for sure if thats true).

A third option, is to upgrade to a larger stud (what I am doing).
My LS block has a stripped hole and its a LOT cheaper to upgrade to a 1/2" stud instead, from ARP (you could get away with an M12).
If you can drill and tap the block yourself, you could do it for less than $50 (thats including tools to do the job and the new larger stud).
(You will need to use a drill guide or some kind of crazy extendable drill press though, unless you remove the block....which Im not intending to do)

wanna do it the ghetto way? drill out the one hole and tap it for a b series bolt! D series is M8 and B series is M10 I think... or its M10 / M12. I bet you could pull it off.

its m11x1.50
and thats a great idea!
It would just have to be the same length, and not all B studs are the same size.

Just pay the price for a timesert, stay away from the helicoil.

Yes, M10 x 1.25 is the block size, and it is the helicoil size.
You are going to overdrill the block, tapping that, and threading the coil into place.
Drill size you need is 13/32
Tap size you need is...I dont know

You would be a lot better off just buying an entire kit: http://www.atoolcrib.com/catal...=2681

Perhaps, while installing the head, you will find anothe stripped hole. If that happens, it would be nice to have more, on hand, wouldnt it?

go through their distributor list and contact one of them.
You need to buy their entire tool kit to do it right....which is WAY more than the cost of a new block
