Lift? or no lift?
what do yall think ... is adding a 2" lift to my 99 crv is worth it... or is it just killin my engine i want to get bigger tires on it like bfgoodrich ta k/o if i do put a lift on it... so that i can do some light trails and not be a road rider i like my freedom and that is why i am considering it.. but i wanted to get some opinons soo what do yall think?
as long as you don't try to go rock crawling or anything like that it's worth it. I want to do that to my 99 too. It needs another inch or so of clearance on the sand.
If you find it needs more power you can do a CR-vtec swap on it

I don't have experience with lifting V's, but one thing to keep in mind is the possble stress placed on the CV joints when altering the original designed suspension angles.
eehhh we can only live once and why not make some fun... possible stuff if happens will happen and i will deal then...
but thanks for the concern

im in the prosses of doing the crvtec swap i have the head $500 you might fond one cheaper, the swap kit which is highly reccomended is about $350ish with new studs and the kit make it a do it yourself kit all you need is a tap kit and maybe a drill maybe but where my hold up is with the ecu as i have an automatic no one can tell me how to get the vtec working because most vtecs are manual so im just waiting on the ecu problem then i can work out the head swap and tell everyone how sweet it is.
but for starters i would get a cold air intake headers and exhaust and that would make a noticeable differance in power it wont be a kick in the pants but it will help
i have an aem cai and muffler not full exhaust just muffler and a top fuel power neo and the power is definatly better than stock, i can pass on the autobahn at passed 80 now with out looking like 2 semi's passing on a hill( i live in germany right now so it sees 100mph on a regular basis) a super charger would porlly be you best bang for your needs that with ihe you could see around 180-200 at the crank. jackson racing make a kit that will fit the crv its for an integra ls 94-00

If the older CRVs use a front suspension like the EK Civic, then I think you would be alright with a 1"-2.5" lift.
I don't know where you'll find long travel shocks, but Ground Controls can easily be adapted to use longer ERS springs if you wanted to lift it that way. If you have a drill press, you can easily make outside the pack strut spacers for less than $15 for all four corners.
Since the CRV doesn't have 4WD, I wouldn't worry to much about the CVs. You really only break CVs when you apply throttle to them when they're at full droop. Unless they're at a 45° angle at rest, then it's not going to be an issue...

I just removed my 2" lift after running it for 4 years and 80k. I had 215-75-15 BFG TA KO's. And heres what I have for advice. You have to consider 2 major things. When you lift the CRV yes you did get more ground clearence. however the flip side is that your pushing the shocks extension to the limit. with the lift the shock is running almost to the top and doesnt like to drop down with you have the CRV offroad. Alot of times while doing even light trails i found myself on 3 wheels because the lift doesnt alow the suspension to drop down even with the heavier wheel-tire combo BFG's are heavy you will feel the difference. The second thing is you cant realy gear down so while the awd system is great going up it sucks coming down, you cant rely on the engine and gearing to do any braking for you. While going down even the slightest grade you will have to apply the brake to slow down this will cause the wheels to lock up very easily. No the ABS will not help while braking this slow. The AWD system is better for the road then offroad. I ripped off the lift, bought some Koni's and Intrax 1.75 drop springs replaced all of the sway bar endlinks and bushing that were beat as all hell after being stretched apart from the lift. And I can say I now love my CRV on the road. It handels incredible and I can feel the AWD on the road as I can drive the car (yes I said car) alot more aggresive. After all is more like an AWD integra then a truck.
