Inspecting / Rebuilding a Tial Wastegate. How To Tell If My Unit Is Broken?
I had a good bit of problems this year with boost not staying steady, I ran a 14psi spring which is about the psi level I wanted to run but sometime it would skyrocket and sometimes it would build boost rather slow
Is there a tech guide to taing these units apart and inspecting them.
Just curious if maybe its sticking open and causing me to build boost very slowly

did you inspect the diaphragm? thats more than likely is the problem. or vaccum lines are loose/leaking

Open it up, mine was very easy to take apart and inspect. I found that the diaphragm was installed incorrectly, one of the expansion folds was getting pinched where the housing screws together. I installed it correctly and it worked fine.
I just pulled apart my wastegate, there might be something wrong
The diaphram is kind of crinkled, kinda pushed down in one spot
Doesnt seem to be ripped though but the diaphram is probably permantently in that position
Need pics? What should I do?

That's how mine was. I just reassembled it carefully, poking the fold in the diaphragm inside the casing with a feeler guage as I screwed it together to keep it from getting pinched. Mine worked fine after that.
Mine seems pinched not where the casing closes down though, its on the raised lip that goes on the innermost wall of the top of the diaphram, dunno why it was like that
If theres no rips its good to go?

that diaphragm is supposd to strech.. not as in material but extend. when i took mine apart, it was all pinched as well, so i had to extend it to see the damage. you have to inspect entire diaphragm.. pics would help before you close it backup
