steering question
okayi own a 95 honda accord ex with 159k miles.. 5spd.. wel today i notice the boot on the driver side axle is kinda pushed in. like the booth is pushed in i tried to squeeze it and play around with it but it doesn't want to straighten its not ripped.. but is that or it will cause the boot to rip and make mebuy a new axle?
next up is the steering rack or rack an pinion wuteva u called it.. the boot on the driver side is ripped and when u rub ur hand u can feel oil drippin.. is that what the tie rod connects to right? i notice my car pull to the left side is that the rip boot on the R&P that causing it to pull... let me know tech thanks

as far as your cv shaft boot, that keeps the gress in , and the dirt out. you got to figgure out some way to get that boot back on. make sure to put fresh grease in it too. if not it will lead to premature failure of the cv joint.
ok that is all pointless
just re-read your first statment, and it can lead to the boot ripping, but isn't to crituial. if you want get the pylers to take off that ring, and take it losse, pop it back out, and recunected. ( you may have to cut the outer band and replace it with another , depending on the style of clamp.)
as far as the rack and pion, it seems like your inner tie rods are shot, and you need an alignment. of corse replace the bellos boot too.

if it is leakin out of the rack, you will probably need to replace the inner tie rods, and the boot. I don't realy rember, but there might be a seal or the inside of the rack, but that also might just be the bushing on the iner tie rod.
is that boot sticking, out? or is it flat on one side? I dont get whats going on with that one anymore. I thought the cv boot was just flat on one side.

yea the boot on the axle is flat on one side..i'll prolly have a mechanic check everything out sometime this week.. also is the bad tierod causing my front end to sway when i hit a bump and making it pull to the left?
If oil is leaking from the large bellows on the rack (INNER tie rod) then you got internal problems in the rack. There shouldn't be anything but air inside that bellows. A new boot won't fix the real problem.
Swaying & pulling can be caused by a bunch of things. Alignment, bad shocks, along with loose ball joints or tie rods. Maybe a combination of these.

Rebuilding YOUR rack vs. getting a rebuilt rack is probably a toss-up.

it sounds bout right, either rebuild it yourself, or have the shop r&r it with a remaned. with the shop doing it though, they should have a warrinty on it, but check into it. also as far as letting the pro slide, you will have to keep filling up your p.s. res., and could eventualy lose all powerstearing. destroy the pump if it runs dry. I would think it to be unlikely, but possiable, breaking the rack further, and looseing all control of the steering.
so what exactly do the rack and pinion do.. does it getconnected to the steering wheel and turns the wheel.. if so than what does the axle act as..
anyways i was thinkin of having me and my friend do it myself.. anyone got any DIY or anything tips before doing this?let me know... it is an easy job.. whats involved what needs 2 be removed..

everything is all set.. we did it thanks to this tutorial.. now i filled my PS resivouir all the way to the red cap.. now i don't get it if i leave the car parked with the car wheels turned all the way to the left... i see PS fluid leaks.. all the lines are tight especially the 2 powersteering lines that goes into the rack.. i'm confused.. i tightened it. my friend did.. took it to the shop.. nobody can find this mysteriously leak.. do you guys think because the res. is full its leaking out some oil. i doubt it.. kinda confusing.
