Odd clunk when i turn right and brake. possivle cv joint prob?
I went under my car and found that the boot on the driver side steering rack, is ripped, and the ball joint can be seen. what do i need to replace the boot?
it may be the cv joint, as when i jacked the car up and put it in gear, i heard the driver side drive shaft make clunking noises and it seemed to wobble a little. the boots are fine tho. ??? can a cv joint fail without the boot tearing?
any input would be appreciated.
I have already orderd a new cv joint/axle.

The axle has to come out to replace the boot might aswell replace the axle. Take the car somewhere put the steering wheel to full lock one way start driving. You should start to hear a clunking, that is the joint, and it be bad!

thats the weird thing. when i turn there is no continual clunking, one audible and felt clunk and only on acceleration or braking. but seeing as the axle is wobbling, i'll replace it.
as far as the steering boot is concerned is all i have to change the boot or are more serious repairs needed?

Hmm I think once you get the axle you can just swap the boots. Do you have stock axles trying to handle the 190whp? Also, if your car is over lowered you can **** the axle and even the joint without tearing the boot. I think

Have you checked to see if your CV boots are actually leaking? If they are, thats your problem... If they aren't leaking, check to see if your lug nuts are tight.
