Want to do a poor boy TYPE R need the negitive and positive
i blew up my fully built ls/vtec and i would like to do a poor boy type r i would like to know the big diff between the to builds
your question doesnt make sense...? your still building a B-series Honda motor, they are all about the same... think we need more specific questions...
but i have an answer anyway: find out why your LSVTEC blew up, and make sure you dont do the same thing you did on that to your new motor...

if fully built is the same as around here... thats some B16 pistons and maybe some ITR cams...lol

the LS has more stroke, a lower numerical rod/stroke ratio dictating a faster moving piston given the same RPM, will idle large cams a little easier, will make a bit more torque. LS doesnt have oil squirters, VTEC bottoms do. LS has open crank mains, GSR/ITR have a 3 journal girdle. LS costs a few hundred less.
there wont be much difference between the two except cost. find out why your first motor went and do another.

yea, i'd say that if you were happy with the lsvtec that you shouldnt go puttering around with other "stock" engines, because the outcome will be more or less the same, you'll probably make more power with the lsvtec because you have a longer stroke on the crankshaft, and you can add the cams to make the heads the same. so i'd stick with wha t you have.
well which one is more reliable cause the head is built b16 and the reason the first one blew is cause i bought junk eagle rods from ebay and #2 rod broke in halfwith no clearnce problems at all the engine had 4256 miles on it with lot of break in time
ill post the rod if you all explain to me how to do it iam a computer dumb *** but i do have a digital camera to take the photo
load the pic to your computer. then load it onto an image hosting site like http://www.photobucket.com then post the url of the pic using [img] tags
reliabilty is all the same.. it matters how its built..as long as you take the time to do things in wat i like to call "the right way" then both motors are reliable
yea....not much difference at all. I hate the saying "poor mans type r", as it is going to cost more than a type r engine costs to build any engine properly.
Eagles are damn strong rods. If the rod was not defective, which i doubt, most likely installation error or a bad tune was your problem. As everyone else is telling u, find out what went wrong with the lsv and go from their.

i agree with Chris... I have a "poor mans type r" and there nothing poor about it.. with wat i put into that motor which is all oem parts i coulve have saved money just buying the R longblocc.. i really hate when people refer to it as a "Poormans"
