Default Are older Civic window crank handles perfectly compatible with newer civics?

Already searched...I want to know if an older (say 91ish) Civic's window crank handle is compatible with my 96 Civic. Can I just buy the older one to use? ...cause mine broke and i need a new one quick and only eBay has one somewhat cheap. I still have the metal clip from the old one so I dont need that. Also, is anyone selling one by any chance?

scratch that..its the wrong color anyway

DOES anyone have a 96-99 (or close to those years) Civic window crank handle in the gray color? I really need this; cannot open or close my window!

only asking here because the market place isnt showing up for me for some reason.

EDIT: or does anyone know where i can get a used or new gray one cheaper than 25 friggen bucks which is the price on majestic honda? no junkyards around here have any new ones and wont sell me a used one because i'd have to buy the whole door panel (sucks)

you can use a vise grip to temporary roll it up or down

thanks..tried with two different ones but its really hard to tighten it enough around the odd-shaped cylinder (forgot what its called) to actually roll it up or down considering it was very hard to do to begin with. ended up using the closed end of a combo wrench and barely got it closed. such an aggravation, i cant believe the crank even broke while just rolling it up, cheap piece of ****. i really need the stupid handle badly...and hten i cant even imagine getting a new one back on and putting that u-shaped clamp on, im absolutely dreading..its looks very difficult, i couldnt even get it off without breaking the broken handle even more. does ANYONE have a handle or know where i can get a 96-98 gray one cheap/fast?

is there a write-up anywhere that tells you how to re-install a crank and the clip thing? it seems pretty hard even for a person who can do stupid **** like that like i can

quite simple... use a pair of needle nose pliers and clip it back in the slot... and for the time being use the passanger side what do you need a co-pilot for anyways

i thought of that except for some reason now that ive taken the door panel off the drivers side to fix the crank, i cannot for the life of me get it back on correctly..its like 90 percent on and clipped in but i cannot get the top part all the way toward the window and under the corner part where the manual mirror control is, its pissin me off.

use the one from your other door. Get a old sock or pice of thoth and wedge it inbetween the panel and the crak and pull down, move the crank till the clip comes off.

also, and 88-00 crank is the same. If you drive to ontario canada, ill give you one, FOR FREE, what a deal.

88-2000 civic/crx/pinto window cranks will work. I'm using crx window cranks on a civic right now.

when putting the new one on, are you supposed to clip the clip thingy by putting the door handle on first and then getting behind it to clip the thing behind it like you do when you take it off? (which sounds tricky)

anyway i just called honda nearby and they have it for 22 bucks with a new clip, so im goin to get that.
