Default Test Pipe w/ o2 censor

Will the O2 censor be effected in any way if i put on a test pipe instead of a catalytic converter? I hear the check engine light might turn on. Does it mess with the computer in any way? I have a 2001 gsr

Yes your CEL light will come on. However your performance will be fine.

That's not true in his case. On your '94, it's correct, but he has a 2001 with 2 oxygen sensors. On an ODBII car, the downstream sensor will throw a code on a test pipe. One option I've heard of is to insert some catalyst into the O2 bung then insert the downstream sensor. *Supposedly*, this will prevent a code.

The car will not go into "safe mode" if you put on a test pipe. Code 67 means catalytic converter failure, the CEL won't affect anything, just ignore it.

you could always get a O2 sensor simulator or get a high flow cat like car sound(what i got) or random tech then you can install your O2 sensor like normal without any problems.

You could not do anything with the o2 sensor and just let it get atmospheric air and wrap it in foil so it can't get wet, and ziptie it to something so it can't move around.
