ok so i put an LSD in my B tranny and now one of the shafts arn't going in to its hole. it's the shaft that the sifter **** is atatcht to. it keeps hitting the rim and it'a pissing me off. and it's not like a and level it out, rite????
Can you go into anymore detail about what is actually going on. This is the shift rod, correct? You're positive that it's not the countershaft not dropping down because you don't have the tranny elevated?

Okay... so after rereading the post again, it's the input shaft that isn't dropping down for you (the one with the shift rods connected to the various gears). But like I said... I'm not sure what to describe to you because I just can't see what is going on really.
But here are some tips that I've found useful when closing the case...
1. Make sure the case is elevated with 2 boards or something. (This is so the countershaft can drop into it's position).
2. Make sure the washer (spacer) for the main (input) shaft bearing is the correct way. (It has a little lip protruding from the washer (spacer). Make sure the lip curls to the right direction and that it lines up inside the top transmission case. Right now, I haven't worked on a tranny in months so I can't remember if that lip curls up or down at the moment.
3. When the tranny case just doesn't want to seat, sometimes I've found it helpful to start selecting the gears. If the shift linkage is still attached, use it... if not, use a screwdriver and twist and rotate the rod the linkage attaches to at the base of the transmission. This will sometimes help the casing seat.
4. Once you have a few of the casing bolts put in, tip the tranny over and drop the top of it on the ground to make sure the countershaft C-clip snaps in to the countershaft.
But if you can get pics, it would help out tremendously.

This has worked for me in the past.
