Default Compresion Test on b16A

Just compression tested my b16a. here are the result,
1= 205,
2= 210,
3= 188
4= 215

when i bought this engine it was stuck, there was some mud in 3rd cylender,
i have checked the mannual it says 185 is standard and max variation is 28 psi,

I just want to ask, because of cylender 3 my b16 performance will be low or it will be ok.

Compression numbers are reasonable. I had 189 to 210 on my '90 Civic Si with 265k miles on it. Anyway...

I would be concerned about the 'mud'. It is awfully dificult to get everything out of a cylinder without pulling the piston. How did you remove the 'mud'?

Any leftover grit will accelerate the wear on that cylinder.

the person from whom i buyed this engine, had this sitting in a garage which have no shulter,
the biggest problem was, that the engine dont even have a oil cap on it,
when i have the engine it was stuck.,

i put all most every thing that people suggested me to make it free,

in the last i hamerd the piston from the top and oped its botom end, and it start moving,

after since then, i am running the car, fixing other problem, but now its working ok

so i tok it to a friends place and posted the results,

I have check the Factory mannul it says standard is 184psi,

The mud may have scratched the cylinder walls, causing more blow-by than the others.

me personally i would run a leak down test to make sure everything internal is fine i would be a little worried if my numbers dropped that low on the #3 cylinder doesnt seem normal to me seems like you have a blow by or a blown head gasket any difference more that 20 pounds makes me worry but like i said that is just me

I agree, 20 lbs is a good deal, but if Honda says its ok, then I'd feel it'll be fine to run, probbly not best to non stop flog and might be needing work sooner then another motor but i'd not be worried.

all my friends cars smoke. and they are all b16's in crx's so i think your good depending on how much. its usually just a little in the high rpm's maybe when you just get into gear and slam the pedal. but if it smokes during daily driving you have a problem.

I would assume it does since thats how i do mine, WOT. Btw my D15B1 had..

Cylinder.1 - 180
Cylinder.2 - 180
Cylinder.3 - 180
Cylinder.4 - 210

This above was about a month ago is when i last checked it.

My compression two months before that was..

Cylinder.1 - 190
Cylinder.2 - 210
Cylinder.3 - 210
Cylinder.4 - 210
