i am having a problem, i put my 90crxsi in first gear to leave the other day, and the engine was revving, but car not moving anywhere?????
it won't move in any gear, but the enine is revving but not moving the car forward.
it could be either clutch or tranny, but if i can gather peoples opinons, then i can maybe avoid taking it in to a shop for diagnosis.
i am hoping its the clutch, cause then i don't need to take it in, i can have my friend do it here, but if its the tranny, then i will need to take it in.
any opinions, or similar experiences would help, thanks

OK well I (we) need more info...
If you dont have the clutch depressed then you shift it in gear slowly. Can you feel anything at all.??? or try rolling the car wiht it in gear and the clutch out? does it roll?
Well if it rolls while in gear your tranny is toast.,
I almost assure you it is the clutch.
How did this happen tho overnight????
Did someone steal your axles??? hehe
tell us more

i just got both CV joints replaced, a couple weeks ago, .................
and oh, i tried what 89crxsi told me, i went out, and i put it in 1st gear, and had the clutch out, and i went behind the car, and rolled it (pushed it) forward, ........and it moved forward as i pushed it.
when i start the car, and put the clutch in, then run the shifter through the gears, it is normal, just like before, but if i put it in like say, 3rd, and let the clutch out, there is a little grindy sounds, and when i put the clutch back in, it quits, and its any gear, not just 3rd doing that.

Weird eh...
Well with the info you gave me it is not your clutch which is the culprit.
Did your car do this overnight or gradually got worse?
I think your problem is in your tranny or your axles may be broken. When you let it out of gear and it grinds a bit the that tells me that your axles must be working good tho. I'm guessing your input shaft into your tranny.
So did this happen overnight or get progressivly worse. ????
THX

Okay, when you drove it before this, when you would turn, would it grind at all? I think its your axles man. Maybe the shaft that goes from the axles to the tranny, that CRX SIs have, forgot what its called, some kinda shaft...

whats really strange is, no, it worked great just the other night, i was driving fast and smooth, seriously.
recently, there was a little grind on 3rd gear, like a month ago, but it has'nt been really bad or anything.
and one little time, about a week ago, i pulled out, and put it into 1st, and it almost felt like it was'nt going to move forward, but then i put it in neutral, and then back in 1st, and i drove away fine.
whatever it is, it did kind of happen suddenly.
thanks for your opinions, it really helps me think what this can be, i think the best thing might be for me to just say "screw it", and get it towed to the Honda House, here in Dallas, and they said they can tell me what it is, thats the last place i took it to, when i had the cv joints replaced. if it is the clutch or tranny, i think i will just tell them to go ahead with it, and fix it, cause i need my car back.

it was'nt the clutch or tranny actually, i took it to the shop, .....and they apparently did'nt properly seat the driver side inner cv joint into the transaxle, and it stripped the end of the spline, and popped out, .........so since its under warranty, they are putting another one in, .....(thank god!), so i don't need to pay anything
