Default How does the starter spin the motor

Is it connected to a belt, that spins something. or directly to the crankshaft. and where is it?

The starter spins the crankshaft via the flywheel. The teeth along the outside edge of the flywheel are engaged by the starter and disnegaged when you let go of the key.

The starter is located near where the transmisson and the engine bolt up, depending on the drivetrain, is attached to either the transmission or the engine block.

Wow.

I'm not knocking a guy for wanting to learn. I just figured if he knew his stuff about HVAC, then he should have known.

But for wanting to learn.
