Default engine questions

Im rebuilding the engine, is anything required to put ctr pistons in(outside of regular itr pistons). What about engine mgmt, I already use 94 octane on a daily basis, would it be nessasary to retune, obviously it would be advantagous, but the build is eating up all my $$$. HELP.

your post above is akin to watching a train wreck about to happen...

you don't simply just drop in new pistons...
you have inspect the block, make sure the cylinder walls are not out of round, rehone the cylinder walls, rods, new bearings, new rod bolts, etc...

CTR pistons in a B18c5 will yield a comp ratio of ~12.2:1
if you don't tune, see aforementioned train wreck

Not only that you won't be able to run on normal 91 pump gas that we see here in the west coast. THat higher compression will require better gas like 94 at the least.

maybe i can't read but your post mentions nothing about a complete rebuild...

and

obviously, you have managed to convince youself that you can half-*** the rebuild

you asked and we answered

I would assume "i'm rebuilding the engine", would infer a complete rebuild, my bad( I was at work and unable to go into in-depth detail). Im dropping 2500 bux on a COMPLETE rebuild, every seal, bearing, timing belt water and oil pump etc. I appreciate your help, but will using 94 octane be enough or is it a nessesity that I tune, Nothing is halfed-assed here, where did your reasoning come from that Im half assing anything? I just simply stated I'm dropping a lot on the build, not that I'm unequivically not going to tune. If it is a NESSESITY to tune I will spend the extra money, but if I can get away with running 94 octane on stock ecu, I will go that route.

doesn't this statement indicate that you are looking to cut corners where you can?

if you have already spent $2500 rebuilding, why would you want to even risk blowing up such an investment by "trying to get away with running 94 octance..." without tuning?

as i stated b4, the ctr pistons will yield a ~12.2:1 compression

if you truly respected that number, you wouldn't even think about not tuning
