how do i do this and what should it be set at. the motor is a b16a. will i be able to affect how lean/rich my car is running?i need to pass emissions and was wondering if i could adjust this temporarily to get my car to run leaner. right now it is set just under 40...

 

You can't adjust it unless you have a FPR.

Most of the stock FPRs are set around the 40-42 psi range.

Do you have a wideband? Don't go ******* with **** unless you know where your AFRs are at because if you guess wrong & turn it down too far you'll lean out the car & you'll have to worry about seizing you block/melting a piston.

It sounds like it's at the stock pressure. Why won't it pass emmissions as-is?

You can't lean it out unless you get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

How do you know it's running rich?

But he does have an FPR

Maybe an adjustable one will help

(stocks are not adjustable OP)

 

Get a B&M or other aftermarket FPR. I believe the B16A2 out of the 99-00 EM1 is 40.

I wouldn't recommend leaning the engine out, but w/e lol

Pull off the vacuum hose on top. Loosen the top bolt (I think its a 10 or 12mm) then grab some pliers and turn the piece where the vacuum line was attached to (I don't know if its clockwise or counter, but hopefully you have a gauge so you know which way you're going) and tighten the bolt back up and put the vacuum back on.

Lowering the pressure will lean the motor out.

I'd just leave it at 40 and go. If it's at the stock setting it shouldn't be running rich at all. It should be running stoich (around 14.7). Is this a stock motor running a stock ECU?

Why do you think it's running rich?

 

Lowering the PSI will reduce the amount of fuel hence leaning it

I just don't like the idea of an engine running really lean. But hey its your motor dude.

 

b16a motor in a hatch, unsure of the ecu...how can i find out?i beleive its the ecu came with the b16

 

Is it a stock motor? How do you know the motor is running rich? There is a # on the side of the ECU that tells you what it is..
