alright..... first off, before i even had the turbo but had my b18c in my car and my basemap and everything all set to go.... i fired her up n/a as earl laskey (motor builder) had suggested to make sure all was well before putting the turbo on when it did come..

Well everything was great, etc..... just had a small leak by the dipstick tube.... and the tube looked "raised" and i gave it a few taps to "tighten it".... still had a small leak or the same.... but i figured i would just replace the tube in a bit before or during the turbo getting here since i wasn't driving the car..

Well today i finished doing my push fan install so i can have room for the downpipe.... got everything all cut nice on the bumper and all the turbo parts great to the point where the car fired up, no leaks (on the turbo lines that is...) vacuum was great.... it all sounded super healthy.

Now tomorrow im getting the rest of my downpipe finished.... so i figured i might as well fix that dipstick tube leak today.... so i got my new tube and some honda bond... etc.. i pulled the old tube out (what a ******* bitch)... but it occured to me, that there shouldn't really be a leak there unless im splashing around oil.... not just sitting idle... etc.

So then came the thought of having a small hairline crack somewhere around there

well sure enough... out of the "gully, step/level" as shown circled.... above the dipstick tube level... there must be a small crack in there as i fired her up and then turned her off and then a little river of oil (its brownish).... ran down.... its not gushing but its enough to leak

Now i hope i don't have to pull this block out.... earl pretty much said to just have someone weld up the aluminum.... but the point is.... its a gully in there and i can't see a crack....

I was wondering if i there is any aluminum paste/jb weld type of thing out there that you guys would advise me to use??? i can have someone that does aluminum (welded my thermo housing).... do it too.... but i was wondering what you guys thought..

Im super bummed, everything was ready to go today

btw... its not leaking from the "3rd level" above the 2nd level i pointed out where the leak is at.... but the 3rd level looks like a dent/crack but not residue there :confused:

im soooooo bummed

advice??? its not much leaking but enough to puddle alittle under the car.

JB weld to the rescue!!

That's what I would do at least. Clean the area really well and apply a bunch of JB weld.

But that's just me. I'm sure that's not the proper way to deal with it. I have sealed up similar oil leaks with JB weld before and they are still holding strong. That stuff works wonders!

 

ive got the same exact problem with my benson block. i thought it was the dipstick also but its not. i think a bunch of jb weld should get the job done but i havent tried yet....god i hate oil leaks

thats what i was going to say also...try jb weld...might work! never know until you try it.

Instead of rigging it like everyone else stated, I'd remove the oil pan, and the windage tray and pick up and inspect the area around the dipstick.

 

i pulled the pan off the check out that area but no go, its not in the "rod path" as i would call it...

Im on my 4th coat of metal epoxy right now as im taking light coats and going over them... if not then ill have it welded on top too to play it safe.

Btw i have been using some JB
