Today, I took my dad's friends for a ride in my R for about 10-15 mins. I parked it for 5 mins. As I started it up, the idle dropped to about 400 rpm and stayed there. It may not be a major thing, but please tell me what is happening here.

 

Did the car still feel to drive normally?

 

Yes, it felt fine, but the idle was just a bit low from the norm.

 

if you have mods like intake, exhaust, cams, cam gears etc... that is normal, can happen all the time. If totally stock, then it is kind of strange, but I am sure it can still happen from time to time, particulaly after running the engine hard .

 

mines always done that. After running hard, it will stay at 1,100 rpm at idle, and after a few minutes it will drop to 500 or so rpms.

 

The strange parts is, I didn't run it at all. just brought it up to 5k once.

Mine has done that before too. I'm pretty sure its only happened when its been extreamly hjot and humid outside, also its usually only when the car hasnt been driven for the day yet.

 

try resetting the ecu. may not help... but it might. definately won't hurt.

 

my idle drops REALLY low too. especially if i have driving my car at night with the lights on.. get in the garage, turn the lights off.. and the idle will drop to around 400-500.
