ok when ever i am near redline and my engine shifts.. auto... a puff of smoke shoots out the back.. what could this be??

oh yea.. how do i fix the leak in the taratop

More than likely, if he is almost at redline, then that smoke more than likely will be black. Wich is a sign of too much fuel and running rich.

Here is an idea for you, tune it, or dont shift that far up. Most of your power probably comes well below that point on the tach anyways.

 

where can i get the seals? and what do i need to do to tune it? should i take it somewhere or is there osmething simple i can do

 

A simple tune up should be fine for you. Plugs, wires, cap rotor, filters and an oil change. Should take care of it.

 

try rubbing Di-electric grease on the seals. You can get it at any auto parts store. Let it sit overnight. wipe off the excess with a paper towel. The seals dry out and the grease helps recondition them. You could also get the conditioning grease from honda but it will cost you and it is really the same thing. This is what i did 2 years ago and have not had a leak since.

 

What year is the sol? The '96-'97 models had the improved seals which work better. They can still be had from Honda for about $350...each. I don't think they have a sku for the set.

Where is it leaking? Forward, upper corner of the door glass where the top meets the windscreen? The new seal corrects the design flaw but you have to get the entire set as the overlap is different from the older '93-'95 versus the '96-'97. You might be able to make the leak stop by adjusting your door glass 'in' a little. You'd have to take the door panel off and tweak the bolts/nuts on the frame that holds the track for the glass.

Moisturizing the seal is a good idea too. I would use a silicone product instead of a petroleum base product.
