drops right in using stock mounts and bolts right to your dx tranny..

just have to plan out how you want to wire it..most will tell you to go obd1 and get a p28 or d15b vtec ecu...also since you're in cali im assuming you'd have to go obd1...and is the d15b even legal over there? i dont know about the cali laws

Yea man... drops right in... you just need to use all mouting hardware from you stock motor (which involves removing the timing cover off the d15b and replacing the motor mount bracket.)

Id switch to OBD1 and run a p28 ECU.

I love my little D15b. She sips the gas and is rather quite peppy.

From what I understand it is a huge hassle to get the car to run on the P08 ECU. You'd have to convert to OBD1 anyway to run it, and it's just easier to run a P28. Best case scenario is getting the P28 chipped and running P08 maps to get the "factory" performance out of the motor.

Besides that she drops right in. Basically any guide about putting a D16Z6 into your CRX will also apply for the D15B VTEC.

Don't forget you'll also have to go MPFI to do it. You can stay OBD0 with an A6 mani and dizzy but for performance and tunning reasons I would go OBD1 with a P30 imo. Got one in an eg hatchy running 14.0 with minor bolt ons @99.97 in the quarter and will do 150+ top end

Actually the p08 isnt that much of hastle to get the car to run. The main issue is that the p08 runs a 1 wire o2 sensor, while the p28 runs a 4wire o2 sensor. Once you conquer that obstacle it is straight forward.

D15b is nice, Ive been very happy with mine, i was doubting the engine at first since its 1.5, but once i learned a little about it, and put that baby in. It turned out to be way fun to drive.

Chronicsinners,

Thanks for the info. All the information I had ever come across just said it's easier to get the P08 maps. Since my P28 is chipped I'm going to go ahead and do that. Seems like the P08 wouldn't be a bad choice for a slightly cheaper OBD0->OBD1 conversion, as you don't need to worry about purchasing a 4 wire o2. Though, I'm not sure if the P08 and P28 pinouts are similar, so i'm guessing your standard P28 harness might not work.

Yes the pinouts are the same for the p08 and the p28. The standard OBD1 harness will work for both ecus.

When/If you find a good po8 map please let me know. I have been searching for quite some time and still cant find a good one (for crome that is). Currently i have been running the p28 map, which runs the motor richer than when i ran the p08. Gas milage is still above 30mpg, however with the p08 i would get ~35.

most d-series do bolt right in,,there are certain exceptions though for example the d16a1 ..half of it bolts in
