94 accord DX swap to Vtec HELP!
ok i got a 94 DX and i'm swapping a sohc vtec engine in...my mechanic says that he won't be able to make the vtec work because the wire harnesses aren't the same, is this true? i mean isn't there a way for me to make the vtec work? please help, thanks in advance
he is right. You will need to run a wire for Vtec solenoid and will also need a Vtec ECU. Engine will bolt up and run just fine in your car......with or without vtec
i just did this swap this weekend and know what you will have to do.
first you do not have to replace your wire harness you just have to run 2 wires through your firewall to the vtec solenoid, one for the spool and one for the oil pressure sensor. the 3rd wire is just a ground that can be grounded anywhere in the engine compartment. the engine will bolt up perfectly and run off of your current ECU but the Vtec will not run you will need to buy a P0A ecu, from ebay or where ever, and then just plug the vtec spool into A4 and the oil pressure sensor in to D6 of the new ECU. any other questions feel free to ask. Mine runs great and have had no problems so far.
