I have a P28 for my GSR....
I have a 97gsr in my eg coupe and i'm running a P28 ECU. Is there any harm in doing this??? If I was intrested in chipping, what chip should i get and how much difference does it make?
Can others post up there chipped ecu specs? thanks!

Right, ur using the D16 fuel maps....
Of course u won't run as weak as a D16...but never-the-less, ur probably running pretty lean...
You NEED the P72 for that engine :-\ Or to chip the P28 to make it act like a P72, either way, u need the GSR fuel and ignition maps..and as others stated, you need the P72 to work the secondary butterfly on the GSR...
get a P72, it's for ur engine's best good

You can add IAB support to the P28... but I am sure whomever does it will charge you more then the cost of simply chipping. I know I charge more for people who need this work done at least... Honestly, I would grab the P72. It has the IAB support and the knock board which can be very usefull, especially if you ever get into datalogging. The money you will spend in converting the P28 over to the P72 spec will not be much less (if at all) then the cost of a P72 to begin with.
Running the car on the stock P28 is not a very good idea at all. I'd correct this ASAP..

A stock ITR manifold will not bolt up to a GSR head.

I don't really want an aftermarket manifold. I have a Skunk2 throttle body. Maybe later down the road i'll get one but not anytime soon. So does anyone know where I can find a P72?? Will it fit my obd1 harness???

I didn't know Skunk2 made throttle bodies..
Yes, it will fit just the same as your OBD-1 harness does. Now, if you actually did the swap correctly and wired up the IAB's and knock sensor is another story...

Hmmm i'll have to ask my friend about that one. he did the swap for me, well i helped too, but he did most of the wiring and stuff. but i don't think the iab is hooked up, i don't have vaccum lines coming from the valve for the iab

Negative ghostrider. IAB's are open all the time unless they are closed via the ecu/vacuum source for a low-end tq gain.

THe p72 will conrol everything fine (all the sensors) w/o any problems and w/o chipping it.. making a frankenstein P28 will cost a lot more :-\
