Default Effects of running boosted car without charge pipe???? (noob)

To say the least, i do not own a boosted car and ive been doing research on them but come to this question.

A friend of mine has just recently boosted his d16z6. All he did was put the manifold, turbo, and down pipe on. Then run the oil lines and boost controller. Correctly lined up the vaccum lines and got a IC and IC piping.

For now it has no fuel management or fuel upgrades until he gets to a tunner. In the mean time he needed to drive the car. So in order to stay out of boost range, he disconnected the Intercooler to the throttle body piping and put on a filter.

My question, what harm could this cause to the turbo or engine??? The car never saw and boost at all, but the turbo was smoking a while ago and i think it blew an oil seal.

Please, intellegent answers only. Nothing stupid. And i know it needs injectors and fuel management and a tune so please dont tell me that.

your car won't recognize the fact that the turbo is boosting so the wastegate won't ever open and the turbo will spool until it wants to stop......basically if you try to show off or boost for any reason, you might mess up your set up....

I'm sure its possible to spin a turbo into dangerously high rpms.

ha its my car. . its all good though. . one side of my compressor had some loose bolts (not crazy loose but i guess enough) and a smidge of oil was leaking. . it would then burn off and create smoke. . its mellow now. . no worries. .

what, i think you guys are wrong. My charge pipe blew off one time and i was playing with the sound it was making cause i was on the highway, really loud whine. I couldnt get it to do ****, WOT at like 7,000 rpm the turbo was just spinning at the same rate. because the turbo isnt producing any boost which just ends up coming out the exhaust and creating the big circle. People blow their couplers all the time at the track and keep on ragging for a sec, i know i have before, the turbo just slows the expletive down.

you won't overspin the turbo. the motor's not seeing any boost so you won't put enough load on the turbo to overspin it.

that's correct. .. To overspin the turbo, you'd have to cut your WG line since that's what regulates the pressures in the system..

Turbo is an air pump which simply pressurizes incoming air and then crams it into each cylinder...How do you build pressure without the pipes?
