Default Distributor acting up need advice!

Ok, lately my car has been misfiring and the rpm gauge is very very jumpy in high boost...so i decided to replace the stock distributor...problem is acura wants $500-$600 to do so in parts....No way! Usually what do you guys replace in your stock distibutor?? The ignitor alone is aroudn 230 bucks....coil is like another 150 or so...and rotor is around 25-30 bucks....Is there another alternative? I was looking at the MSD billet distributors and they look fairly decent...can it be used without the msd ignition system? meaning can i just use an exteranal coil and their distributor....my power goal is 600 hp on race and 500 on pump...

Any advice will be greatly helpful...i dont see myself spending 500-600 on a stock distributor....thats crazy!

i picked a obd1 dizzy at autozone for $150. but i wouldn't put it in a 600hp engine.
ignitors are the same if you oick up one for say a 92 civic dx, it will be way cheaper and works just as well. i can't remember if the coil is the same.

pull your cap and check for the red dust of death. if no dust you should be able to just change the ignitor cap and rotor

I have replaced my rotor, rotor screw, coil and ICM but I got them at cost. A little cheaper but not cheap. The MSD Pro Billet is great. It's on backorder though

the red dust is from the bearing starting to bind and seize. you can buy a housing from honda/acura for about 250.00. usually the ignitors won't cause a miss but the coil will. Pm me if you want a price on a brand new dizzy from honda. i can help you out.
